Staying at Château Beausoleil: a riverside château let near Nantes
Château Beausoleil is not a hotel but a house to take over. Expedia lists it as a privately hosted château for families, on the river bank in a rural setting, and its title promises room for 12 guests. In practice this means a self-catering stay, with your own kitchen, dining room and garden instead of a reception desk and a restaurant.
The listing mentions a fenced private pool and a garden with barbecue, loungers and outdoor furniture, plus table tennis, games and books for rainy days. Inside there are three bathrooms (with bath and shower), a sofa bed, bed linen and towels, a work room and a kitchen with island, oven, hob, dishwasher, microwave and a separate dining area. A washing machine, an iron and central heating complete the list.
Wi-Fi is free in the rooms and cable or satellite TV is available. Housekeeping has limited availability, so plan on looking after the house yourselves; food delivery is listed among the services. Smoking is only allowed in designated areas.

History around Château Beausoleil: Thouaré-sur-Loire and its châteaux
10th century – The first château of Thouaré, a feudal motte on the Loire within the duchy of Brittany, is raised on the site of today’s Château de Thouaré, about 2.5 km from the listing.
1254 – The knight Guillaume de Thouaré is said to have founded the lordship of Thouaré, under the bishopric of Nantes.
14th century – The Château de Thouaré takes its present form, later adding a Renaissance lantern tower and a 15th-century dovecote with 1,189 nesting niches.
17th century – Anne Descartes, half-sister of the philosopher René Descartes, holds the lordship of Thouaré.
1671 – The Château de la Seilleraye in neighbouring Carquefou is built for Guillaume d’Harouys, treasurer of the Estates of Brittany.
1851 – The Nantes–Paris railway is built across the commune and leaves its mark on the landscape.
1879–1882 – The Thouaré bridges replace the old river crossing and ease exchanges between the two banks of the Loire.
1982 – The Château de Thouaré is entered on the register of historic monuments.

The sources consulted do not document the history of Château Beausoleil itself, so this section looks at its neighbourhood. For centuries the village gathered around the château of La Motte, also called the château de la Tour, whose chapel served as the first parish church before the village centre moved in the 19th century. Wikipedia notes that the site seems to have been inhabited since the Bronze Age, which is no surprise on a strategic bend of the Loire.
Nearby, the Château de Thouaré is private property that is not open to visitors, although its dovecote opens on some European Heritage Days. The Château de la Seilleraye in Carquefou, mentioned by Madame de Sévigné after a stop there in 1675, has been converted into private apartments.
